Tusculum Men’s Soccer Pulls Away From Emory & Henry Wednesday Night

EMORY, Va. – The Tusculum University Men's Soccer Team (1-6-4, 1-4-3 SAC) broke open a 2-0 match at halftime with six goals in the final 45 minutes on its way to an 8-0 win over Emory & Henry College (0-11, 0-8, SAC) Wednesday night in South Atlantic Conference action.

How It Happened
- Tusculum broke into the scoring column late in the 22nd minute when Damien Baltide scored on a rebound of the post. The Pioneers made it a 2-0 contest at the half on a tally by Ignacio Alconchel assisted by Gui Busato at the 38:28 mark.
- Returning to action, Alconchel scored in the 54th and 60th minutes to complete his hat trick and push the TU advantage to 4-0. Michele Di Miele and Pedro Conchesco provided the help on the two goals, respectively.
- Tusculum earned a penalty kick with 21:18 to play when J-P Vital was fouled inside the box. Busato stepped to the spot and converted to make it a 5-0 match.
- Luis De La Fuente capped the scoring for the Pioneers for the 8-0 margin, posting a hat trick in the span of four minutes.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior forward Nino Egli (Maseltrangen, SWITZERLAND) led E&H offensively with five shots, putting three on target while sophomore midfielder Beh Reh (Mae Hong Song, THAILAND) added a shot on goal and junior midfielder Louis Pereira-Scott (Glasgow, SCOTLAND) put up an attempt.
- Senior Spencer Scott (Stephens City, Va.) made three saves in 38 minutes in goal while redshirt freshman Ty Catron (Wytheville, Va.) added five stops in the final 52 minutes.

Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Alconchel scored his three goals on eight shots, with five going on target while De La Fuente notched his hat trick on five attempts.
- Bruno De Freitas and Nicolas Leite combined for the shutout in goal with De Freitas making four saves in 62 minutes played.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry returns to action on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when it visits Mars Hill University for a SAC contest. The match will be the second of a doubleheader with the Wasps' and Lions' women's teams.
