Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Selected 12th In SAC Preseason Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team has been picked to finish 12th in the South Atlantic Conference this year by the league's head coaches. The poll was released by the SAC office on Tuesday.

Emory & Henry returns 22 players from last year's team and welcomes 12 newcomers this fall including one transfer. This season, the Wasps will play 16 matches, nine of which will be at Fred Selfe Stadium.

E&H opens the year with a three-match homestand beginning on Thursday, August 31 against Shaw University (7:30 p.m.). The Wasps host King (Tenn.) University on Saturday, September 2  (3 p.m.) and will open SAC play against Wingate University on Saturday, September 9 (1 p.m.).

Following visits to Newberry College and Carson-Newman University on Saturday, September 16 and Wednesday, September 20, respectively, Emory & Henry returns to Southwest Virginia for a contest against Limestone University (Sun., Sept 24 – 3:30 p.m.).

A two-match road swing that sees trips to non-conference Concord University on Wednesday, September 27 and a league tie at Anderson (S.C.) University (Sat., Sept. 30) sets up a home match against Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday, October 4 at 5 p.m.

Emory & Henry goes back on the road, visiting Bob Jones University on Saturday, October 7 and Tusculum University on Wednesday, October 11 before setting up the final stretch of the season.

The Wasps play four of their final five matches at home beginning with a Sunday, October 15 visit from Mars Hill University (1 p.m.) on Homecoming weekend. E&H's final road test will be at Coker University on Saturday, October 21.

Emory & Henry will host Carolina Christian College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. Catawba College and Lincoln Memorial University will visit the Wasps on Saturday, October 28 (5 p.m.) and Wednesday, November 1 (7:30 p.m.) to close out the regular season.

The South Atlantic Conference Tournament will take place between November 4 and 12. Quarterfinals will be at the higher seeds with the semifinals and championship contests at the Sportsplex at Matthews in Matthews, North Carolina.

Wingate University has been chosen by the conference's head coaches to win the league this year with seven first-place votes. Lenoir-Rhyne University is second with two first-place votes while Coker University, Catawba College and Carson-Newman University are third, fourth and fifth, each earning a top nod of their own.
