Anderson Men’s Soccer Pulls Away From Emory & Henry, 6-1, With Strong Second Half Sunday

EMORY, Va. The Anderson (S.C.) University Men's Soccer Team (1-1-1, 1-0 SAC) scored five unanswered goals in the final 3-0 minutes to pick up a 6-1 win over Emory & Henry University (0-3, 0-1 SAC) Sunday afternoon in the South Atlantic Conference opener for both squads.

How It Happened
   Anderson got on the board late in the 26th minute when Eloy Allimadi found Marc Vila on the left side of the box. Vila struck a shot across the face of goal into the bottom-right corner for a 1-0 lead which would hold through halftime.
   E&H equalized 11 minutes into the second half. Sophomore forward Ethan Hayes (Williamsburg, Va.) took an outlet pass from sophomore midfielder Francisco Beron de Astrada Aquino (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) and broke down the field. He dribbled past the final defender and to the side of the goalkeeper to slot the ball into the back of the net.
   Just over 10 minutes later, the Trojans went back ahead. Allimadi got his second assist of the contest, crossing a ball into the box which found the head of Diego Jaramillo. Jaramillo completed the brace at the 73:11 mark when he converted a penalty kick to extend the AU lead to 3-1.
   Anderson scored two goals in the span of 34 seconds to put the contest out of reach, 5-1. Emmanuel Arkoh played a give-and-go ball with Jaramillo to score from the top of the box for the first goal and Luiz Lezama executed a perfect free kick to the top-left corner of the goal for the second.
   With 8:57 remaining in the contest, the Trojans capped the scoring when Jaramillo crossed a ball in from the right for a one-time shot to Steven Udy and the 6-1 final score.  

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
   Hayes scored his goal on two shots, putting both of his attempts on target while junior forward A.J. Dale (King George, Va.) had one shot.
   Freshman goalkeeper Emilio Hernandez-Araujo (Pineville, N.C.) made four saves in goal.

Anderson Individual Leaders
   Jaramillo led the way with two goals and two assists, finishing with five shots on target while Allimadi posted a pair of assists.
   Francisco Antoniolli picked up the complete-match victory for the Trojans.
