Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Topples Emory & Henry, 7-0, In SAC Action Saturday

HICKORY, N.C. The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (2-2, 2-0 SAC) scored five goals in the opening half on its way to a 7-0 South Atlantic Conference win over Emory & Henry University (0-4-1, 0-2 SAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
   LR got on the board in the 12th minute as Fran Tita posted an unassisted goal. The Bears pushed their advantage to 2-0 at the 19:10 mark of the contest as David Grifell found Daniel Martinez with a pass for another score.
   Just after the half-hour mark, Lenior-Rhyne scored a pair in quick succession to extend the lead to 4-0. Voro Rivera Peris found the back of the net twice in 3:20, the second goal assisted by Grifell. Guillermo Garcia made it a 5-0 halftime advantage, scoring in the 38th minute.
   In the second half, Ido Omaysi and Oskar Dalhberg put shots past the keeper within 2:02 of one another for the final 7-0 margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
   Sophomore forward Josiah Garrett (Charlotte, N.C.) posted the lone shot of the match for the Wasps.
   Freshman Emilio Hernandez-Auaujo (Pineville, N.C.) made six saves in the opening 45 minutes while sophomore Josiah Wilson (Cleveland, Va.) stopped one shot after the intermission.

Lenoir-Rhyne Individual Leaders
   Rivera Peris scored two goals on five shots with four attempts on target. McCoy Strong and Grifell each had two assists on the evening.
   Tomas Fontes made one save as he picked up the shutout victory.
