No. 18 Coker Men’s Soccer Tops Emory & Henry With Four Second-Half Goals Sunday

EMORY, Va. The No. 18 Coker University Men's Soccer Team (7-1, 4-1 SAC) broke open a scoreless halftime contest with four second-half goals as it defeated Emory & Henry University (0-6-1, 0-4 SAC) Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
   The Cobras had 12 shots in the opening half, but put just three on target as the Emory & Henry defense was able to hold their nationally-ranked opponents off the scoresheet.
   Just over five minutes into the second half, Coker finally broke through as Oskar Kaufmann found Youri Keijser for the score. The Cobras made it a 2-0 contest less than a minute later when Kaufmann was on the scoring end of the play assisted by Frederic Benedix.
  In the 64th minute, Benedix tallied a goal for CU with Lukas Berntsson receiving credit for the help. Coker capped the scoring at the 77:51 mark on a long pass ahead from Tom Dixon to Rodrigo Tostado who placed it in the back of the net for the 4-0 final margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
   Emory & Henry managed just two shots on the afternoon as junior forward A.J. Dale (King George, Va.) and sophomore defender Gabe Franco (Charlotte, N.C.) took chances.
   Sophomore goalkeeper Josiah Wilson (Cleveland, Va.) made five saves on the afternoon including three in the opening half despite the loss.

Coker Individual Leaders
   Benedix put up a match-high six shots, finishing with a goal and an assist while Kaufmann added a goal and assist of his own on three attempts.
   Charlie Walker and Carter Nunnery combined for the clean sheet in goal.  

Up Next
   E&H will be on the road on Wednesday to face its second nationally-ranked opponent in the span of a week. The Wasps take on No. 5 Limestone University at 3:30 p.m., in South Atlantic Conference action.
