The Pioneers took the lead at the 10:40 mark as Clarenns Sainrimat crossed a ball in from the right side to find Felix Triftshauser running to the back post for the score. Tusculum made it 2-0 in the 17th minute when Sainrimat won a penalty kick near the top of the box. Sainrimat called his own number and slotted the penalty into the bottom-right corner of the goal.
Midway through the half, Lars Schutrups pushed the TU lead to 3-0 with a strike from a hard angle off a recycled corner kick. The three-goal margin would hold through the remainder of the opening 45 minutes.
Early in the second half (50:36), Tusculum found the back of the net again to make it a 4-0 contest. Enoch Brako played a long diagonal ball to the right wing for Asbjorn Saevik to cross in for an awaiting Sainrimat for the tap-in goal.
In the final 10 minutes, Emory & Henry got a goal back to spoil the shutout. Sophomore defender Gabe Franco (Charlotte, N.C.) crossed a ball in from the left side to find the head of freshman midfielder Christian Russell (Seaford, Va.) for his first collegiate goal.
Tusculum responded to keep it a four-goal margin with 4:42 left to play as David Evans scored from the edge of the six-yard box.
