
WINGATE, N.C. – The Wingate University Men's Soccer Team (6-6-1, 4-6 SAC) broke open a scoreless contest at halftime with six goals in the final 45 minutes to defeat Emory & Henry University (0-13-1, 0-10 SAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
After going into the intermission scoreless, the Bulldogs came out firing in the second half. Kosi Mafela put Wingate on the board just 1:59 into the period assisted by Zach Panagiotou.
Just before the hour mark (59:43), WU made it a 2-0 contest when Joakim Gunnar served up a ball for Raul Filipe to put in the back of the net.
Wingate scored three goals in the span of 3:08 to put the match out of reach between the 67th and 70th minutes. Pedro Santos, Ben McGonigle and Pablo Pozos put their names on the scoresheet during the barrage. Gunnar assisted on Santos' goal.
With 1:31 left in the contest, Pozos made it a 6-0 final score as Reise Corpuz had the assist.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
Junior forward A.J. Dale (King George, Va.) had three shots, putting one on target to lead the Wasps while senior Greg Ona Vera (Charlotte, N.C.) put an attempt on frame.
Freshman Emilio Henrnandez-Araujo (Pineville, N.C.) had 10 saves in 76 minutes of action while sophomore Josiah Wilson (Cleveland, N.C.) stopped a pair of shots in the final 14 minutes.
Wingate Individual Leaders
Pozos put up a match-high 10 shots as he scored a pair of goals while Yannick Hilpert finished with five chances. Gunnar notched a pair of assists.
Moritz Conrad made two saves as he picked up the shutout in goal.
