Emory & Henry Men's Soccer Settles For 2-2 Draw Against Florida Tech

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Soccer Team (1-3-1) ran out to an early 2-0 lead, but could not hold on as Florida Tech (2-0-2) rallied late to tie the game and earn a draw in non-conference play Saturday afternoon. The two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils in the 2-2 final.

How It Happened
- Each team came out firing as the Panthers recorded three shots and the Wasps had a pair of attempts in the opening 15 minutes, but both keepers were up to the task and the score remained 0-0. E&H was first on the board in the 19th minute when freshman midfielder Noah Serwy (Liege, BELGIUM) passed to freshman defender Milan Ales (Le Cres, FRANCE) who crossed a ball to the center of the pitch to freshman forward Samuel Ulrich Da Silva (Balneario Camboriu, BRAZIL). Ulrich Da Silva beat the keeper to put the Wasps on top 1-0. Serwy made it 2-0 in the 29th minute as he finished a shot on a rebound for his first career collegiate goal. Florida Tech would draw one back in the 33rd minute when Matteo Ghirardelli found Francesco Micheli on a set piece opportunity and the score was 2-1 in favor of the home team at the break.
- Both teams locked down defensively in the second half and neither team could find the back of the net over the opening 30 minutes. Florida Tech tied things up late in the second half when Mario Rekirsch finished past the E&H keeper to draw the score level at 2-2. Both teams continued to push, but could not find the deciding goal as the game ended in the 2-2 stalemate. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Serwy led the Wasps, firing a team-high three shots on his way to a goal and an assist. Freshman forward Jean-Charles Eyidi (Briollay, FRANCE) registered a pair of attempts while Ulrich Da Silva scored on his lone shot of the contest.
- Junior goalkeeper Baptiste Berthozat (Saint-Martin-de-Crau, FRANCE) made six saves in goal for E&H.

Florida Tech Individual Leaders
- Antonio Di Gaudio paced the Panthers with a game-high four shots, three of which were on target. Rekirsch recorded his goal on three attempts while two other Florida Tech players had a pair of shots.
- Elias Ronning Orn had two saves in net for the Panthers.

- The Wasps are at home on Wednesday, September 24 when they host the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex.
