Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Sweep Randolph And Warren Wilson Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams opened the dual meet portion of their seasons on Saturday with a pair of convincing wins over Randolph College and Warren Wilson College. The E&H women won all 11 events while the Wasp men grabbed victories in nine races, setting six school records in the process.

The Men
- Emory & Henry got the meet started with a win in the 200-meter medley relay on the efforts of senior Blake Madaris (Acworth, Ga.), freshman Morgan Cassell (Hubert, N.C.), freshman Andrew Boggus (Virginia Beach, Va.) and junior Noah Wilson (Frederick, Md.) as they went 2:01.15.
- Freshman Payton Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) won the 800-meter freestyle with a school-record time of 9:31.91 as Madaris was second.
- Freshman Kyle Berry (Ringgold, Ga.) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200-meter freestyle, setting a new E&H top mark of 2:04.86. Freshman Matthew Gocke (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) also came in under the previous record time.
- Junior Ryan Spangler (Daleville, Va.) won the 50-meter freestyle in :26.50 with Berry taking second and freshman Hector Rodriguez (Easley, S.C.) finishing fourth.
- In the 200-meter individual medley, Kidd and freshman Aiden Quertermous (Awendaw, S.C.) went 1-2 to both get under the school record as Kidd won in 2:20.38.
- Kidd made it three wins on the day, pacing a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-meter butterfly at 1:05.95, besting Boggus by .01 seconds.
- Rodriguez and junior Antonio Walters (Elon, N.C.) went 1-2 in the 100-meter backstroke with Rodriguez winning in 1:09.54.
- Gocke set his second school record of the day in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:27.22 as Quertermous also swam faster than the previous mark.
- E&H completed the meet, going 1-2 in the 200-meter medley relay as the squad of Berry, Quertermous, Nabors, and Smith going a 1:45.32. Kidd's leadoff swim of :25.00 in the "B" Relay set the school record in the 50-meter freestyle.

The Women
- E&H got the meet started with a win the 200-meter relay as freshmen Tilly Craddock (Christiansburg, Va.), Alyssa Price (Clintwood, Va.), Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Danyelle Dukes (Center Point, Ala.) swam a 2:21.45.
- Freshman Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) won the 800-meter freestyle (10:25.81) and 100-meter backstroke (1:16.30).
- Craddock grabbed a victory in the 200-meter freestyle, hitting the wall at 2:25.28 as Dukes won the 50-meter freestyle in :31.26.
- Senior Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) snagged victories in the 100-meter freestyle at 1:07.49 and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:22.07) while Gelenski won the 400-meter freestyle in 4:55.85.
- The Wasps closed out the meet as Helscher, freshman Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.), Dukes and Sweigart won the 200-meter freestyle relay by 15.5 seconds.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry remains at home next Friday evening when it hosts Milligan University in the first event of Homecoming weekend. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
