Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Defeat Mars Hill Saturday Evening

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams earned their first wins of the year, defeating Mars Hill University in a South Atlantic Conference dual meet Saturday evening. The men won by a 105-93 margin while the women took their victory by a 125-70 score.

The women's team won 9 of 11 races while the men picked up four event wins on the day.

The Men
- E&H started the day by winning the 200-yard medley relay with freshman Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.), freshman Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.), sophomore Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Va.) and freshman Christian Smrekar (Rock Hill, S.C.) posted a time of 1:44.62.
- Seymour grabbed a pair of event wins, taking the 100-yard backstroke in :58.70 and the 50-yard freestyle in :22.85.
- Freshman Max Betzer (Cumming, Ga.) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:02.33 and was the runner-up in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:15.07).
- Kidd notched a pair of second-place finishes with a 2:11.89 in the 200-yard individual medley and a :50.33 in the 100-yard freestyle.

The Women
- The Wasps opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay on the efforts of sophomores Tilly Craddock (Christiansburg, Va.), Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.), Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) clocked a 1:58.82.
- In the 1,650-yard freestyle, freshman Gabby Sadosky (Las Vegas, Nev.) won with a time of 19:40.50. She also picked up a victory in the 100-free at :56.36.
- Freshman Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) notched wins in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.23) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:24.87).
- Freshman Mick Sorochen (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) stopped the watches in 1:02.08 to finish first and also claimed the win in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:06.36.
- Christensen went a :25.12 in the 50-yard freestyle to grab the victory.
- E&H closed out the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay as Sorochen, Sadosky, freshman Jill Koler (Manassas, Va.) and Barnett touched the wall in 1:40.68.
