Emory & Henry Men’s Swimming Defeats King, 103-97, Thursday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams earned a pair of dual-meet victories over King (Tenn.) University on Thursday at home. The men's team (2-4) grabbed the overall win thanks to a first-place finish in the final event by a 103-97 score while the women's squad (2-4) rolled to a 43-point decision (118-75).

The men's team won six events, setting three new school records while the women's squad grabbed eight event wins on the night.

The Men
- Freshman Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) won both of his individual events, touching the wall in the 100-meter freestyle with a school-record time of :53.96 as well as winning the 50-free in :24.53.
- Freshman Max Betzer (Cumming, Ga.) posted a new program best at 4:25.23 in the 400-meter freestyle and also won 800-meter freestyle in 9:05.15.
- Sophomore Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) stopped the watches in the 100-meter butterfly, breaking the school record with a swim of :59.84.
- The Wasps clinched the meet by winning the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:42.88 on the efforts of Kidd, freshman Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.), sophomore Payton Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Seymour.

The Women
- Freshman Gabby Sadosky (Las Vegas, Nev.) earned wins in the 800-meter freestyle (10:16.76) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:54.18).
- Freshman Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) finished first in the 200-meter freestyle at 2:16.26 and the 100-freestyle in 1:02.13.
- In the 100-meter butterfly, sophomore Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) won with a time of 1:09.66 while sophomore Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) touched first in the 50-free (:28.09).
- E&H closed out the evening with a convincing win in the 200-freestyle relay as Christensen, freshman Bri Digby (Carrollton, Va.), Sadosky and Barnett posted a 2:01.74.

- Emory & Henry will be back in action on Saturday, December 10 when it visits Carson-Newman University for a South Atlantic Conference dual meet at 1:00 p.m.
