King Men’s Swimming Tops Emory & Henry, 123-73, Friday In Border Battle

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams moved ever closer to the end of the regular season on Friday with a dual meet at King (Tenn.) University. The women won seven events on their way to a 110-90 victory over the Tornado while the men fell by a 123-73 score despite winning three events.

The Men
- Freshman Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) picked up a pair of individual victories, touching the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle (:22.42) and the 100-yard freestyle (:49.82).
- Sophomore Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) added another win for E&H with a time of :54.30 in the 100-yard backstroke. He was also third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.59).
- Freshman Nate Perez (San Antonio, Texas) was the runner-up in the 1,000-free at 11:16.95 with freshman Christian Smrekar (Rock Hill, S.C.) placed second in the 500-free (5:21.43).
- Sophomore Payton Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) earned a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly at :56.32 while freshmen Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) and Kolby King (Max Meadows, Va.) were third in the 1,000-free (12:05.38) and the 500-free (5:26.63), respectively.
- The Wasps placed second in both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.

The Women
- Freshman Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) grabbed a trio of event wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:57.29), the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.96) and the 100-yard freestyle (:55.84).
- Sophomore Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:22.33 and was second in the 100-fly 1:01.77.
- Freshman Gabby Sadosky (Las Vegas, Nev.) won the 200-free with a time of 2:03.43 and was second in the 500-free (5:35.44).
- Freshman Mick Sorochen (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) went for first place in the 100-butterfly, stopping the watches in 1:01.46 and was third in the 100-back at 1:07.35. Sophomore Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :25.34.
- Freshman Jill Koler (Manassas, Va.) was the runner-up in the 100-breast at 1:14.65 while sophomores Tilly Craddock (Christiansburg, Va.), Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) each notched third-place finishes.
- E&H's pair of relays took second place.

Up Next
- The Emory & Henry men's team has completed its regular season and will next compete at the inaugural South Atlantic Conference Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina from February 8-11.
- The Wasps' women's squad closes out the regular season on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with a double dual at the University of North Carolina Asheville. Virginia Military Institute will also be in attendance.
