Emory & Henry Men’s Swimming Finishes Fifth At Denison Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Emory & Henry College Men's Swimming Team hit the midpoint of the 2023-24 campaign over the weekend, placing fifth at the Denison Invitational. The Wasps broke six school records as they competed in a field comprised of elite NCAA Division II and Division III programs.

Thursday
- Event 2 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – E&H saw the school record fall twice on the day, as junior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.), freshmen Noah Day (Milton, Fla.) and Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and sophomore Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) post a preliminary time of 1:26.13. The relay went a 1:26.01 in the finals to finish eighth while the "B" relay comprised of freshmen Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.), Peter Davis (Manassas, Va.), Lucas Cheuvront (Newport News, Va.) and sophomore Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) was 10th.
- Event 4 – 500-Yard Freestyle – Day finished 32nd in the prelims with a time of 4:51.35 while sophomore Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) was 35th.
- Event 6 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Teuton broke his own school record in the preliminaries, going a 1:58.61 to finish 42nd. Day, Patton and Davis placed 49th, 50th and 51st, respectively.
- Event 8 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Kidd was 16th in the finals, finishing just .01 off his school record at :22.03. Seymour placed 29th in the preliminaries as the second alternate while Jones was 53rd and sophomore Nate Perez (San Antonio, Texas) was 56th.
- Event 10 – 400-Yard Medley Relay – The Wasps closed day one with an eighth-place swim and record performance of 3:32.31 on the efforts of Kidd, Teuton, Day and Seymour. The "B" relay of Patton, Perez, Davis and Jones took 10th.

Friday
- Event 12 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – Seymour, Teuton, Day and Kidd posted a school-record swim of 1:36.00 in the preliminaries and took ninth in the finals at 1:36.12. The "B" relay of Patton, freshman Alexander Hubbard (Davidson, N.C.), Davis and Jones was 10th.
- Event 14 – 400-Yard Individual Medley – Patton was 22nd in the event, swimming a 4:18.30 while Teuton placed 23rd in the preliminaries.
- Event 16 – 100-Yard Butterfly – Kidd finished 27th with a time of :53.20 while Day was 32nd, Seymour was 36th and Davis was 39th.
- Event 18 – 200-Yard Freestyle – Day placed 33rd in the preliminaries at 1:46.07 as Jones, Krafft and Day were 39th, 40th and 41st, respectively.
- Event 20 – 100-Yard Breaststroke – Teuton was 27th in the preliminaries at 1:01.09 with Patton, Davis Perez and Hubbard taking 30th through 33rd.
- Event 22 – 100-Yard Backstroke – Kidd took 23rd in :52.86 with Seymour finishing 27th (:53.98).
- Event 24 – 800-Yard Freestyle Relay – Seymour, Kidd, Jones and Day were fifth, touching the wall in 7:24.27.

Saturday
- Event 26 – 1,650-Yard Freestyle – Krafft was 19th, finishing in 19:32.39.
- Event 30 – 100-Yard Freestyle – Kidd placed 21st at :46.47, just .01 off his own record. In the preliminaries, Day was 40th and Jones was 49th while Davis, Cheuvront, Krafft and Hubbard were 51st through 54th.
- Event 32 – 200-Yard Breaststroke – Patton finished 27th in 2:15.88 as Davis and Hubbard were 28th and 29th, finishing as the first and second alternates.
- Event 34 – 200-Yard Butterfly – Day eclipsed the school record with his 14th-place swim, stopping the watches in 1:58.23.
- Event 36 – 400-Yard Freestyle Relay – Seymour, Day, Jones, and Kidd placed eighth at 3:14.98. The "B" relay of Patton, Cheuvront, Krafft and Davis were 10th in the prelims.
