King Men’s Swimming Tops Emory & Henry, 106-60, Saturday In Border Clash

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams concluded the dual meet portion of their seasons on Saturday at King (Tenn.) University. The women won six events on their way to a 100-93 victory over the Lady Tornado while the men earned three event wins despite a 106-60 setback.

The Men
- Junior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) won the 100-yard individual medley with a time of :54.68 and was third in the 100-breast (1:05.15).
- Freshman Noah Day (Milton, Fla.) grabbed the victory in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in :54.11 and placed third in the 100-freestyle clocking a :50.93.
- Sophomore Max Betzer (Cumming, Ga.) tallied a pair of runner-up finishes in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:59.69) and the 100-yard backstroke (:58.41).
- Freshman Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) took second in the 100-breast at 1:03.60 and was third in the 100-individual medley (:54.68) while sophomore Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) claimed third in the 1,650 at 20:35.69.
- The Wasps closed the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay as Day, Teuton, Betzer and Kidd swam a 1:32.64.

The Women
- Junior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) earned two wins on the day, stopping the watches at 2:20.62 in the 200-yard individual medley and 1:02.25 in the 100-yard butterfly.
- Sophomore Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) swam a 19:11.18 in the 1,650-free and a :57.22 in the 100-free, picking up two more wins for E&H.
- Junior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) posted a :24.87 in the 50-yard freestyle which was good for first and finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.46).
- Sophomore Samantha Pepevnik (Porsgrunn, NORWAY) notched two second-place performances in the  100-IM (1:03.22) and the 100-back (1:02.10).
- Sophomore Maggie Robinson (Canton, Ga.) was third in the 50-freestyle at :28.08 with sophomore Jill Koler (Manassas, Va.) adding a third-place finish in the 100-free (1:00.66).
- Junior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) went a 1:12.13 in the 100-yard backstroke which was good for third as freshman Jaxon Thurman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) taking third in the 200-free at 2:11.44.
- The Wasps' team of Christensen, Thurman, Koler and Robinson won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:49.62 to clinch the meet.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will close out the season at the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Championships which will be held from Wednesday, February 14 through Saturday, February 17 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
