Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Open South Atlantic Conference Championships Wednesday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams opened the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Wednesday, competing in five events each. This year, the meet is being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The women's team sits in fifth place after day one while the men are sixth.

The Women
- Event 1 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – E&H finished fourth on the efforts of sophomore Samantha Pepevnik (Porsgrunn, NORWAY), junior Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.), junior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) and junior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah), swimming a 1:52.61.
- Event 3 – 1,000-Yard Freestyle – Sophomore Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) posted a time of 10:36.86 to finish seventh in the timed final event. Junior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) went an 11:27.03 to take 22nd as freshman Jaxon Thurman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) was 25th, sophomore Maggie Robinson (Canton, Ga.) was 26th and sophomore Bri Digby (Carrollton, Ga.) was 28th.
- Event 5 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Pepevnik placed 22nd in the "C Final" with a time of 2:13.03. Gelenski was 28th in the preliminaries with a time of 2:17.22 while Ritter was 31st and sophomore Jill Koler (Manassas, Va.) was 32nd.
 - Event 7 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Christensen qualified for the "A" final with a time of :23.94, becoming the third woman in program history to break the 24-second barrier. She finished eighth in the finals at :24.04.
- Event 9 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – The Wasps' relay of Christensen, Koler, Thurman and Robinson swam a 1:45.97, placing fifth.

The Men
- Event 2 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – Emory & Henry saw freshman Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.), sophomore Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.), junior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) and freshman Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) place sixth, touching the wall in 1:39.23.
- Event 4 – 1,000-Yard Freestyle – Sophomore Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) was 21st, clocking an 11:28.92 swimming the timed finals in the morning session.
- Event 6 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Teuton was 22nd with a swim of 1:59.40 in the "C Final."
Freshman Noah Day (Milton, Fla.) placed 29th in the prelims at 2:04.27 while freshman Peter Davis (Manassas, Va.) was 30th and freshman Alexander Hubbard (Davidson, N.C.) was 33rd.
- Event 8 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Kidd stopped the watches in 21.25 seconds to take 13th in the "B Final" while Jones took 21st in the "C Final" at 22.57 seconds. In the preliminaries, freshman Lucas Cheuvront (Newport News, Va.) swam a :24.07 to finish 27th while sophomore Nate Perez (San Antonio, Texas) was 28th.
- Event 10 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – The Wasps finished the evening with a fifth-place finish as Kidd, Patton, Day and Jones swam a 1:28.30
