ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Swimming Teams closed out the dual meet portion of their season on Friday evening, hosting King (Tenn.) University at the Harry L. Coomes Recreation Center Pool. The meet also served as Senior Day for the Wasps, who honored their six seniors prior to the first event.
The Tornado claimed both duals with the men winning, 130-59, and the women, 109-86. Emory & Henry posted seven events wins, five by the women and two by the men.

The Men
- Senior Corey Kidd (Woodbridge, Va.) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.17 seconds while junior Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) was first in the 400-yard individual medley (4:28.26) and was the runner-up in the 1,000-free at 10:29.15.
- Junior Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:03.90 and was fourth in both the 100-free (:56.60) and the 500-free (5:44.94).
- Freshman Ian Shirk (Black Mountain, N.C.) was second in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:54.87 and placed fourth in the 100-breaststroke (1:21.80) while sophomore Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was third in both the 100-breast (1:03.60) and the 100-back (:54.28).
- Sophomore Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) came in third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.11 seconds with freshman Ethan Veselik (Marion, Va.) placing fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.56).
- The Wasps were second in both of the relays, swimming a 3:56.34 in the 400-yard medley relay and a 3:29.36 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Women
- Senior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.89 seconds and was also the victor in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.37.
- Senior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) touched the wall first in the 400-yard individual medley (4:54.63) and also won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.79.
- Senior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) was the runner-up in the 1,000-yard freestyle, swimming an 11:48.71 and was third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:09.43. Freshman Aida Matute Moreno (Viladecans, SPAIN) took second in the 100-back (1:06.30) and was third in the 50-free (:27.51).
- Sophomore Jaxon Thurman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) tallied a pair of third-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:21.08) and the 500-free at 6:01.54.
- Freshman Kursten Thomas (Marion, Va.) was third in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a 1:01.13 while senior Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) was fourth in the 100-breast (1:16.07) and freshman Tirayan Bartlett (Woodbridge, Va.) placed fourth in the 100-back at 1:15.52.
- E&H won the 400-yard medley relay as Matute, Ritter, Gelenski and Christensen swam a 4:13.86. The Wasps were second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:54.65.

- Emory & Henry will next compete at the South Atlantic Conference Championships from Wednesday, February 5 through Saturday, February 8. The meet will take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
