Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Defeats Bluefield, 6-1, Monday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (9-3) picked up its fourth straight win on Monday afternoon, defeating Bluefield College, 6-1, at home.

The Wasps got out to a 2-0 lead after the doubles portion of the contest. Juniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) won 8-0 at number one doubles and seniors Chip Wintringham (Burlington, N.C.) and Mike Young (Lawrenceville, Ga.) picked up an 8-0 victory at the second doubles flight.

In singles, Wintringham and Young won easily at first and second singles to clinch the match. Junior Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) won (6-1, 6-1) at number four singles while freshman John Hanlon (Bristol, Tenn.) came away with a three-set victory in the at number five.

Emory & Henry will return to ODAC action on Thursday when it travels to Roanoke College for a 3:00 p.m. match.
