Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Picks Up Two ODAC Wins Over The Weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (8-2, 3-1 ODAC) picked up a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference wins Saturday on the campus of Washington and Lee University.

Due to limited court space and eight teams being in competition this weekend, all matches were played to decision and not completion.

The Wasps defeated Virginia Wesleyan College, 5-3, to start things off Saturday afternoon and picked up a 5-2 victory over Randolph-Macon College to conclude Saturday play.

Sunday morning, E&H faced off against No. 23 Washington and Lee, and despite falling 5-0, played a close match against some of the best players in the region.

Wasp senior Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) went 2-0 on the weekend, picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles flights. Freshman James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND) was 1-2 in his matches including a hard-fought loss against #12 Hayden White of W&L Sunday.

Keighley teamed up with senior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) to go 2-1 at the second doubles flight.

Emory & Henry will return to the court on Saturday when it hosts Randolph College at 1:00 p.m.
