Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Blanks Randolph, 9-0, Saturday Afternoon At Home

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (9-2, 4-1 ODAC) took no prisoners on Saturday afternoon as it defeated Randolph College (2-5, 0-4 ODAC) by a 9-0 score. The Wasps won the match by an aggregate game score of 96-6.

Senior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) and freshman James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND) blanked their WildCat opponents at number two doubles, 8-0. Seniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) claimed an 8-1 win at the top doubles flight while senior Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) and freshman Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) won by the same margin at the number three pairing.

The Wasps earned 6-0, 6-0 wins at number two through number six singles. Minasyan, Nelson, Henderson, Gilley and Eccher eached blanked their opponents. Keighley still won easily, (6-2, 6-2), at the featured singles pairing, to give E&H the shutout victory.

Emory & Henry will travel to the Clinch Valley on Thursday to face the University of Virginia's College at Wise. First serve between the Wasps and Highland Cavaliers is set for 4:00 p.m.
