Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Handles Roanoke, 8-1, Wednesday At Home

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (12-2, 7-1 ODAC) kept things going with an 8-1 win over visiting Roanoke College (9-5, 5-3 ODAC) Wednesday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. With the win, the Wasps have solidified a home match in the quarterfinals of the 2013 ODAC Tournament.

E&H took a 3-0 lead after the doubles portion of the match. Senior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) and freshman James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND) picked up an 8-1 victory at the No 2 flight to lead the Wasps.

In singles play, E&H nearly picked up the clean sweep, falling only at the top pairing. Freshman Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Seniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.), Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) and Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) only dropped one game in their victories and three, four and six, respectively.

Emory & Henry will host Shenandoah University in ODAC play on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The contest will be the final home match of the regular season for the Wasps and will serve as Senior Day.
