Randolph-Macon Men’s Tennis Gets Past Emory & Henry, 6-3, Sunday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Randolph-Macon College Men's Tennis Team (3-1, 1-1 ODAC) picked up a 6-3 win over Emory & Henry College (1-4, 0-2 ODAC) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon at Richardson Tennis Courts.

The Yellow Jackets got out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Sophomore Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) and freshman Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) won a hard-fought battle at number two doubles, 9-8 (10-8), to give Emory & Henry its point.

In singles, Minasyan made quick work of his opponent, winning 6-1 6-3 at the premier pairing. Aliev picked up his second win of the day at No. 3 singles, battling back after losing the first set to win, 0-6 6-4 6-3. Freshman John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) played a tough three-set match at the second singles flight, but was unable to get the win.

Emory & Henry will next take the court on Sunday, March 9 when it faces off against Defiance College in Hilton Head, S.C. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
