Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Falls Twice Over The Weekend

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va./GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (3-11, 1-6 ODAC) dropped its two Old Dominion Athletic Conference matches over the weekend. The Wasps fell, 9-0, to Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday morning and dropped an 8-1 decision to Guilford College Sunday afternoon.

The Marlins (10-3, 6-1 ODAC), who are ranked No. 19 in the Atlantic South Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, blanked the visiting Wasps. Sophomore Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) fell by a 6-3, 6-4 score at the premier singles flight.

Sunday afternoon, though Emory & Henry was able to claim only one point in the match, the Wasps competed much closer with Guilford (5-8, 4-4 ODAC). Freshman John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles while Minasyan came up just short at No. 1 singles (3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4)).

E&H will return to the court on Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Averett University at Richardson Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
