Roanoke Men’s Tennis Takes Down Emory & Henry, 7-2, Wednesday Afternoon

SALEM, Va. –The Roanoke College Men's Tennis Team (6-5, 2-5 ODAC) picked up a 7-2 win in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play over Emory & Henry (3-12, 1-7 ODAC) at the Elizabeth Campus Courts.

Emory & Henry got one of its points at the No. 1 doubles position as sophomore Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) and freshman John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) clamed a 9-7 victory.

Ferguson notched a 6-4, 6-1 win at the second singles flight for E&H's other point of the match. At the premier singles position Minasyan, forced forced a 10-point super-tiebreak for the third set, but ended up falling, (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5)).

Freshman Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) battled hard at No. 6 singles, coming up just short, (7-5, 7-6 (7-4)).

The Wasps will return to action on Saturday when they host the Eagles of Bridgewater College in ODAC competition. First serve is set for noon.
