Bridgewater Men’s Tennis Blanks Emory & Henry, 9-0, Saturday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Bridgewater College Men's Tennis Team (10-8, 6-2 ODAC) swept the slate of matches, 9-0, over Emory & Henry College (3-13, 1-8 ODAC) Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action at Richardson Tennis Courts.

The Eagles started off the day by taking all three doubles matches. Junior John Hanlon (Bristol, Tenn.) and freshman Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) put forth E&H's best performance, falling 8-4 at the third pairing.

In singles play, Bridgewater claimed all six points for the 9-0 win. The closest match for the Wasps came at the fifth singles flight as freshman Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) forced a first-set tiebreak before falling 6-2 in the second set. Freshman Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Hanlon took six games off of their opponents at the No. 2 and No. 6 positions.

Emory & Henry will have its final match of the 2013-14 regular season Sunday afternoon when it travels to Lynchburg College for a 1:00 p.m. ODAC matchup with the Hornets.
