Bridgewater Drops Emory & Henry Men's Tennis, 7-2, Saturday Afternoon

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Emory & Henry men's tennis (5-9, 2-6 ODAC) drops their fourth straight match of the season in a 7-2 loss to the Eagles of Bridgewater College (6-7, 5-3 ODAC).  The Eagles, who entered the day fourth in the ODAC standings, won their third straignt match.  The Wasps, meanwhile, have now fallen to eighth in the ODAC standings.

At the top flight for doubles, Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) once again took to the court.  The duo fell by a score of 8-1.  John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Dillan Dodson (Hampton, Va.) did not fare much better, as they fell 8-3 at the two spot.  The Wasps earned their first victory of the day at three doubles.  Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) and Alex Polydoroff (Falcon Heights, Minn.) blanked the Eagles 8-0.  That victory gave the two their fourth win as a pair on the season.

Ferguson and Aliev lost at one and two singles 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.  Polydoroff lost his first singles match since March 8th vs. Virginia Wesleyan with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Funkhouser lost at the four flight 6-2, 6-0.  Dodson took a competitive match into the third set at five singles. However, the freshman lost 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).  Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) picked up his sixth win on the season today after defeating the sixth player from Bridgewater 7-5, 7-5.  Logan moved above .500 on his individual wins and he now has the second most wins on the team this season.

The Wasps' next match is tomorrow at Shenandoah at 2 p.m.
