DANVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry men's tennis team (1-1, 0-0 ODAC) was able to muster one win in a match versus Averett University (2-0, 0-0 USA South) on Sunday afternoon, as the team lost 8-1. Last year, the Wasps fell by a score of 5-4 to the Cougars.
Doubles
-Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) took a tough 8-2 loss at one doubles
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) fell, 8-1, at two doubles
-Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) and Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) were blanked, 8-0, at three doubles
Singles
-Ferguson took a 6-3, 6-4 loss at one singles
-Aliev fell, 6-1, 6-3, at two singles
-At three singles, Funkhouser was shut out, 6-0, 6-0
-James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) was also defeated, 6-0, 6-0, at four singles
-Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) wound up losing, 6-1, 6-0, at five singles
-Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) earned the lone victory for the Wasps at six singles, 6-1, 6-4
