Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Wins, 6-3, While The Women Take Third Straight, 7-2, Over Shenandoah Saturday

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team (6-8, 3-3 ODAC) picked up its third straight win, 7-2, over Shenandoah University (3-6, 1-7 ODAC) on Saturday. The Wasps now move to .500 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Men's Team (3-10, 1-4 ODAC) earned its first conference win of the season, 6-3, over the Hornets (1-8, 0-6 ODAC).

WOMEN 

Doubles
-
Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) were up early at one doubles. However, they were unable to seal the deal, as the duo fell, 9-7.
-At two doubles, Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) defeated their opponents, 8-6.
-At three doubles, Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) remain on fire at three doubles. The pairing won, 8-1, which is their fifth straight win as partners.

Singles
-Riner fell at one singles, 6-1, 6-0.
-Graham was able to earn the victory at two singles, 6-2, 6-2.
-In took Summers three sets, but she won, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4, at three singles.
-Pierce earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory at four singles.
-Meade also needed a third set to beat her opponent, but she got the victory, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1.
-Sheaves came up huge with a 6-1, 6-4 win at six singles.

MEN

Doubles
-
Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) fell at one doubles, 8-5.
-
John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) earned the lone doubles win, dominating their opponents, 8-2.
-Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) and James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) also lost, 8-1.

Singles
-Ferguson went to a third set on Saturday. The senior won 4-6, 6-3, 7-5
-Aliev's opponent made it tough for him as well. However, Aliev came out triumphant, winning, 7-5, 1-6, 6-2.
-At three singles, Funkhouser won 6-2, 7-5.
-Shipley suffered a 6-1, 6-3 loss at four singles.
-McCarty picked up a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
-Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) won 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 in a thrilling match up.
