Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Earns 7-0 Senior Day Win Over Johnson & Wales

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (12-6) picked up a 7-0 win against Johnson & Wales (N.C.) University on Sunday afternoon. It was also Senior Day for the Wasps, who honored Archer Marlow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Tyler Wills (Rochelle, Va.) prior to the start of the match.

How It Happened
E&H started the match with a 1-0 lead as the Wildcats did not fill the No. 6 singles spot.  The Wasps won the doubles point as Marlow and freshman Alvaro Garcia (Madrid, SPAIN) picked up a 6-2 victory at No. 1 and Brandon McGuire (Christiansburg, Va.) and Wills took a 6-1 win at No. 2.

In singles action, freshman Juan Alvarez (Metepec, MEXICO) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 while freshman Corey Garrity (Spartanburg, S.C.) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4. Wills dropped just one game at the fifth flight - 6-0, 6-1. McGuire added a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the premier pairing while Marlow won - 6-0, 6-3 - at No. 2.

Emory & Henry's final match of the year will be againt Midway University. The contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 9 but was postponed because of the weather. A makeup date has not yet been set.
