MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (1-1) earned a 7-1 road win over Maryville (Tenn.) College on Friday afternoon. One match was left unfinished due to darkness.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the doubles portion of the match. Sophomore Corey Garrity (Spartanburg, S.C.) and freshman Nathan Spurling (Abingdon, Va.) won by an 8-1 score at No. 2 while freshman John Billinis (Clemson, S.C.) and sophomore Alvaro Garcia (Madrid, SPAIN) were victorious by the same 8-1 margin at the third flight.
- In singles play, E&H took the top three pairings to seal the victory. Freshman Diego Alvarez (Bogotá, COLOMBIA) won 6-2, 7-5 at the premier flights as Garrity pulled in a 6-2, 7-5 win of his own at No. 2.
- Freshman James Smith (Brentwood, Tenn.) went for a 6-4, 6-0 decision at No. 3 while freshman Gus Senn (Charlotte, N.C.) tallied a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at the fifth flight.
