Emory & Henry Track & Field Competes At Bast-Cregger Invitational

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Track & Field Teams kept the season going on Friday and Saturday at Roanoke College's Bast-Cregger Invitational. The Wasps saw three new school records over the course of the weekend, two on the men's side and one on the women's, along with five top-five finishes.

Top Men's Performances
- Sophomore Nour Nabi (Lake Ridge, Va.) established the program record in the heptathlon with a score of 3,091 points to finish 12th.
- Sophomore Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) placed fourth in the triple jump, breaking his own school record with a mark of 13.85 meters. He was also 19th in the long jump at 6.08 meters while sophomore Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) was 25th.
- Sophomore Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) won the 300 meters with a time of 36.03 seconds while sophomore Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) was sixth in the 60 meters, running a 7.00 seconds. Sophomore Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) made the semifinals of the 60, taking 19th (:07.10).
- Junior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) took third in the weight throw with a distance of 16.54 meters while junior Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) was fifth (16.25m). Wallace also placed 12th in the shotput at 13.36 meters.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) broke the long jump record for the second meet in a row with a leap of 5.09 meters to finish 10th.
- Freshman Aiyana Blakey (Woodbridge, Va.) was fifth in the 300 meters, running a 44.84 seconds while freshman Abby Harris (Powell, Tenn.) placed 18th in the 60-meter hurdles (:10.48).
- Junior Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) threw the shot put 9.63 meters, placing 24th.
