Emory & Henry Men’s Track & Field Finishes Eighth At SAC Indoor Championships Sunday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams concluded the 2024-25 indoor season at the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. The men's team finished eighth while the women were 11th.

Additionally, the Wasps broke seven school records on the day, five by the men and two by the women, totaling 11 new E&H-best marks for the weekend.

The Men
- 3,000 Meters – Junior Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) broke his own record in the event as he ran an 8:54.94 to finish 20th. Sophomore Justin Owens (Grundy, Va.) placed 26th.
- 4x400 Meter Relay – Sophomore Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.), sophomore Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas), freshman Hayden Pugh (Louisa, Va.) and senior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) completed the relay in 3:24.52 to finish fifth.
- Shot Put – Junior Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) finished seventh with a mark of 14.66 meters.
- Triple Jump – Sophomore Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) took 11th with a jump of 13.78 meters. Senior Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) tied for 13th.
- Heptathlon – Sophomore Nour Nabi (Lake Ridge, Va.) finished ninth with a new school record score of 3595. He also established the school record for the pole vault (2.60m), and broke his heptathlon records in the 60 meter hurdles (8.90 seconds) and 1,000 meters (2:59.62) in the process.

The Women
- Mile – Junior Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) claimed fourth place with a school-record time of 5:00.65, beating her previous best by more than five seconds.
- 3,000 Meters – Eller was 16th, crossing the line in 10:35.34.
- 4x400 Meter Relay – Freshman Aiyana Blakey (Woodbridge, Va.), sophomore McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.), sophomore Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) and freshman Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) ran a 4:12.26 to place seventh, breaking the E&H record by more than four seconds.
- Triple Jump – Freshman Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) placed 14th with a leap of 10.55 meters.
- High Jump – Junior Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.) was 15th, reaching 1.45 meters.

- Emory & Henry will now turn its attention to the outdoor season which will begin later this month.
