Emory & Henry’s Gavin Lee Named SAC WePlayed Sports Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry University junior Gavin Lee has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, SAC officials announced Tuesday. This year, the SAC Players of the Week are being sponsored by WePlayed Sports. 

This is the second time this season that Lee has been named the SAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week and the fourth time in his career he has earned weekly honors from the league.

Lee is part of Emory & Henry's clean sweep of the SAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week this week. Sophomore Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.), junior Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) and freshman Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) also received recognition for their accomplishments.

The North Tazewell, Virginia native picked up a pair of event wins at the inaugural Blue & Gold Track Classic at E&H's Food City Sports Complex on Saturday. He broke his school record in the hammer with a throw of 56.99 meters which is the 34th-best mark in NCAA Division II this year. Lee also won the discus with a performance of 47.88 meters.

Emory & Henry will compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships beginning on Wednesday. Lenoir-Rhyne University will host the two-day meet at Irwin Belk Track at the Moretz Sports Complex.
