Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country Finishes Eighth At 2013 ODAC Championships

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Cross Country Team picked up an eighth-place finish at the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning at Manor Golf Course. Hampden-Sydney College served as the host school for this year's conference meet.

Emory & Henry, which notched its best finish in the league since 2009, was led by freshman Kevin Watts (Stafford, Va.), who ran a 29:53 over the 8K course. Freshman Alex Cooper (Christiansburg, Va.) was second for the Wasps, turning in a time of 29:59, while sophomore Nathan Fishell (Richmond, Va.) was third, clocking a 30:49.

Freshman Jackson Feezell (Gastonia, N.C.) and sophomore Will Leigh (Hamilton, Va.) rounded out the top five for E&H with times of 31:20 and 31:21, respectively.

Bridgewater College claimed the team title, placing five runners in the top 14, while Guilford College's Andris Goncarvos was named Runner of the Year, winning the meet as he ran a 26:19.

Emory & Henry will next compete in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship. The meet will take place on Saturday, November 16, hosted by Christopher Newport University.
