Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth At 2015 ODAC Championship

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Cross Country Team earned a sixth-place finish at the 2015 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship Saturday afternoon. The meet took place on the campus of Bridgewater College.

Leading the way for the Wasps was junior Alex Cooper (Christiansburg, Va.), who covered the 8K course in 27:57 for a 35th-place finish. Emory & Henry put its next three runners in a row, finishing within 2.7 seconds of one another. Freshman Austin Tolbert (Wytheville, Va.) was 39th (28:10) while sophomores Michael Cawood (Louisville, Ky.) and Michael LoGrande (Alexandria, Va.) were 40th (28:12) and 41st (28:12), respectively.

Junior Kevin Watts (Stafford, Va.) clocked a 28:15 for 43rd and fifth on the squad while sophomore Seth Hein (Fairfax, Va.) was 66th with a time of 29:09. Freshman Zane Moran (Floyd, Va.) came in 78th, running a 29:44 and senior Nathan Fishell (Richmond, Va.) was 81st with a 29:57. Junior Jackson Feezell (Gastonia, N.C.) (84th – 30:04), sophomore Buck Kirtland (Richmond, Va.) (85th – 30:18), sophomore Caleb Simpson (109th – 34:07) and senior Justin Smith (110th – 34:28) rounded out the racers for the Wasps.

Roanoke College's Harrison Toney won the individual title with a time of 25:42 while Washington and Lee University earned the team crown, placing three runners in the top 10. Bridgewater was second while Lynchburg College claimed third place.

Emory & Henry will next compete at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship in two weeks at the Kernstown Battlefield. Shenandoah University will serve as the host for the meet.
