Emory & Henry Cross Country Competes At NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championship

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams closed out the 2018 season at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships Saturday. The region meet was hosted by Berry College, a member of the Southern Athletic Association.

The Basics
MEN'S RESULT – 30th/33
WOMEN'S RESULT – 26th/32
LOCATION - Mount Berry, Georgia
VENUE – Clara Bowl Course

The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Freshman Tony McGuire (Chesapeake, Va.) stopped the watches in 28:27 to lead E&H while senior Zane Moran (Floyd, Va.) was second on the team at 29:57.
- Senior Austin Tolbert (Wytheville, Va.) clocked a 30:50 and freshman Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) went 31:30 to finish third and fourth on the team.
- Freshman Henry Quesenberry (Christiansburg, Va.) rounded out the top five for E&H with a 33:21.
- Berea College's Logan McKenzie won the region title with a time of 25:31 while Jeff Gibson of the University of Mary Washington was second in 25:35.
- Rhodes College claimed the team championship with three runners in the top 10 while Emory University was second.

The Women – 6K (3.73 miles)
- Junior Erica Grupp (Charlottesville, Va.) paced E&H with a time of 26:09 while sophomore Alette McGuire (Chesapeake, Va.) was second on the squad at 26:53.
- Senior McKenna Tankersley (Big Stone Gap, Va.) turned in a 27:38 while senior Lauren Fleming (Troutville, Va.) went 27:46.
- Freshman Lia Haskins (Danville, Va.) finished with a time of 32:06 to finish fifth for the Wasps.
- Centre College's Annie Rodenfelds took the top spot with a time of 21:44 while Molly McCullough of Trinity (Texas) University was second in 22:31.
- Emory put four runners in the top 20 to take the team title while Centre was second.
