ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Cross Country Team has been picked to finish 12th in the South Atlantic Conference this year by the league's head coaches. The poll was released by the SAC office on Wednesday.

E&H returned to the course last year after taking the 2020 season off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the resulting truncated cross country/track & field schedule. The team used a mixture of youth and experience to put together a successful season in 2021 as it began its transitioned from a NCAA Division III to a Division II schedule. Three members of last year's squad return and are joined by seven freshmen, many of whom will be looked upon to make an immediate impact.
Wingate University, which won the 2021 SAC Championship, in addition to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and finished in the top-10 at the national meet, is picked to win the league with 12 of 13 first-place votes. Anderson (S.C.) University is second while Catawba College is third, earning the final top nod.
Additionally, the SAC has announced its Runners to Watch List with freshmen Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.), Logan Choplin (Manassas, Va.) and Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) making the list for E&H.
Emory & Henry will open the year at the Fleet Feet Invitational, hosted by Catawba College on Saturday, September 3. The meet will take place at Community Park in Salisbury, North Carolina.
