SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams continued the 2023 season on Saturday morning at the Converse Kick Off. The meet took place at Milliken Research Park.
The women's team finished in eighth place out of 17 competing schools while the Wasps' men's squad was ninth.

The Women – 6K (3.73 miles)
- Freshman Jessi Looney (Vansant, Va.) led E&H with a 43rd-place finish (24:41) while sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) was close behind in 46th at 24:46.
- Freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) crossed the line in 25:09 to take 52nd overall while freshman Trinity Neff (Grottoes, Va.) was 57th with a time of 25:21.
- Sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) rounded out the scoring runners for the Wasps as she stopped the watches with a 25:49, taking 69th.
- Emory University won the meet, putting five runners in the top 15, including the runner-up. Centre College's Meghan Owens took medalist honors, finishing in 21:48.
The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Freshman Kaleb Elswick (Big Rock, Va.) took 39th overall, covering the 8K course in 26:32 as sophomore Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) finished 46th (26:39).
- Sophomore Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) placed 50th with a time of 26:43 as junior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) was 82nd at 27:44.
- Freshman Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) crossed the line in 28:00 to finish 94th while classmate Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) was steps behind in 95th (28:01).
- Emory U. claimed the team title with its top five placing inside the top fifteen. Berry College's Bradshaw Rathbury covered the course in 24:47 to best the field by 32 seconds.
