Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country Places Seventh At Southeast Region Preview Saturday

OAKWOOD, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams kept the 2023 season rolling Saturday morning, competing at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Preview. The event was hosted by University of North Georgia.

Both teams finished in seventh place as the men's race was composed of eight programs while nine schools competed on the women's side.

The Women – 6K (3.73 miles)
- Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) led the Wasps as she finished in 24th place at 24:42 while freshman Trinity Neff (Grottoes, Va.) was 29th in 24:52.
- Freshman Jessi Looney (Vansant, Va.) clocked a 25:28 to take 34th overall while freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) boasted a 40th-place finish (25:41).
- Sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) ran a 25:45 to grab 42nd as freshmen Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) and Maddy Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) were 64th and 66th, respectively.
- Anderson (S.C.) University won the event, placing four runners in the top seven. Lenoir-Rhyne University's Sabrina Fleig was the individual medalist, covering the course in 22:40.

The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Freshman Kaleb Elswick (Big Rock, Va.) led the Wasps, placing 21st in 27:08 while sophomore Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) was 25th overall in 27:29.
- Junior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) ran a 27:50 to finish 35th while sophomore Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) claimed 39th with a time of 28:02.
- Freshman Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) rounded out E&H's scoring runners, covering the course in 28:17 (44th) as freshman Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) and Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) each earned top-50 finishes at 46th and 48th, respectively.
- Anderson also claimed the men's title with all five of its scoring runners in the top 12. Logan Zuchelli of Concord University crossed the line first (24:59), 14 seconds ahead of his closest opponent.

Up Next
Emory & Henry will next compete on Friday, October 13 at the Roanoke XC Invitational. The meet, hosted by Roanoke College, will take place at Green Hill Park in Salem, Virginia.
