Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country Takes Seventh At SAC Championships Saturday

NEWTON, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Cross Country Team concluded the 2023 season with a seventh-place finish at the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday morning. The meet took place at Southside Park in Newton, North Carolina, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The Results – Men's 8K (4.97 miles)
- Freshman Kaleb Elswick (Big Rock, Va.) set a new E&H record with a time of 24:44 to finish 31st.
- Sophomores Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) and Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) were 36th (24:55) and 47th (25:25) also eclipsing the previous program best time.
- Sophomore Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) placed 66th at 26:19 while freshmen Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) and Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) were 71st and 72nd, respectively, both crossing the line in 26:23.
- Freshmen Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.), Caeden Bowker (Salem, Va.), and Gage Coleman (Bristol, Va.) as well as sophomore Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) also competed.

The Winners
- Wingate University dominated the field, putting its five scoring runners in the top seven for 20 points while Catawba College was second with four runners in the top 15.
- Bulldog Jakob Rettschlag was the individual medalist at 22:51, besting teammate Luis Hernandez-Perez by 12 seconds.
