NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the third week in a row, the Emory & Henry University Men's Cross Country Team is the eighth-ranked team in this week's USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll, USTFCCCA officials announced Tuesday afternoon. The same 10 teams are ranked as last week with Flagler College and Catawba College swapping places as the only change.

Cross country regional rankings are determined by a single member coach in each respective region. The role of the regional representative is to weigh each team's strength to project the order of finish at the NCAA Regional Championships in November.

Emory & Henry picked up its first team win of the year and individual medalist as a NCAA Division II institution last Saturday at the Newberry Invitational. The Wasps claimed the top spot in the de facto South Atlantic Conference Preview meet while senior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) beat the field by 35 seconds.

Wingate University remains at the top of the rankings for the fifth week in a row dating back to the preseason poll. Augusta University and Anderson University continue to take up spots two and three, respectively.

Emory & Henry will next compete at the Roanoke Invitational on Saturday, October 19 at Green Hill Park in Salem, Virginia.
