Lynchburg Softball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 15-0 And 4-3, Saturday Afternoon

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Lynchburg College Softball Team (12-12, 3-1 ODAC) picked up a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference wins over Emory & Henry College (8-14, 1-5 ODAC) Saturday afternoon at Moon Field. The Hornets won game won 15-0 in five innings and came a way with a 4-3 victory in game two.

Game One - Lynchburg 15, Emory & Henry 0
Lynchburg scored early and often, pounding out 15 runs on 16 hits. The Hornets scored four runs in the first and achieved the Eight-Run Advantage criteria after the third. LC then added seven runs in the bottom of the fourth for the 15-0 final.

Hope Johnson picked up the win in the circle for Lynchburg, tossing a no-hitter in the process while striking out six.

Game Two - Lynchburg 4, Emory & Henry 3
Emory & Henry drew first blood, scoring in the top of the first. A RBI single to right centefield by sophomore pitcher Jennifer True (Utica, N.Y.) plated senior shortstop Jenae Morrissey (Utica, N.Y.).

Lynchburg tied the game in the bottom of the third and took a 3-1 lead after five.

E&H made the score 3-3 in the top of the seventh on a two-out two-run home run by freshman second baseman Jelisa McFadden (Lake City, S.C.). he Hornets were able to get the win in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI groundout by Taylor Walker.

Kaitlyn Morris got the win in game two for Lynchburg, scattering four hits and three runs over seven innings of work. True took the loss for E&H, despite allowing just four runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

Emory & Henry will remain on the road as it faces Randolph College in an ODAC doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
