Ashley Ebersole Named ODAC Softball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Ashley Ebersole has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time the middle of the 2008 season that a Wasp has earned weekly league honors.

The senior from Maurertown, Va., led the Wasps to a 5-3 week at the Fastpitch Dreams Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C., picking up a trio of run-rule wins in the process.

Ebersole went 14-for-24 (.583) at the plate with six home runs, including a pair of grand slams. She also recorded 20 RBI, a .609 on-base percentage and a gaudy 1.500 slugging percentage.

In the final game of the tournament against Penn State-Fayette, Ebersole was perfect at the plate, going four-for-four with two grand slams, four runs scored and eight RBI as the Wasps rolled to a 22-0 run-rule victory. She was also three-for-three against Penn State-Berks with three runs and three RBI and hit a pair of home runs against Green Mountain, where she went two-for-two with three runs and three RBI.

Ebersole has caught all but two innings for Emory & Henry this season. She leads the team in batting average (.571), hits (15), runs scored (13), home runs (six), RBI (20), slugging (1.310) and on-base percentage (.545).

Emory & Henry will visit Ferrum College on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m., for a non-conference doubleheader.
