Emory & Henry Softball Earns Seventh Seed For 2013 ODAC Tournament

FOREST, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Softball Team has earned a trip to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament, ODAC officials announced Wednesday night. The Wasps finished seventh in the ODAC regular season after being picked 10th in the preseason poll. E&H earns its second postseason berth in the past three years.

Emory & Henry will take on #2 Lynchburg College on Friday at 2:00 p.m., at Field 1 of the James I. Moyer Softball Complex in Salem, Va.

Under first-year Head Coach Tommy Forrester, E&H (23-13) has posted a 20-win season for the first time since 2007 and only the sixth time in program history. Emory & Henry is on pace to have its best season since 2004, when it went 28-14.

Currently, eight of the Wasps' starters are batting over .300, with freshman Jordan Chrisley (Dublin, Va.) and sophomore Taylor Doss (Damascus, Va.) eclipsing the .400 mark. Doss also leads the team in extra-base hits with nine doubles, three triples and five home runs.

Junior Brandy Bryant (Salem, Va.) has nine wins and three saves in the circle with a 3.13 ERA and 48 strikeouts. Sophomore Taylor Banner (Castlewood, Va.) has also won nine games and has a 3.03 ERA, striking out 37.

With a win in their first contest, the Wasps will play the winner of #3 Randolph and #6 Guilford at 6:00 p.m. A loss will see E&H take on the loser of the Randolph-Guilford game at 4:00 p.m.
