Emory & Henry Softball Sees Four Named To All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team has seen four of its players named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Wednesday. Four all-conference players are the most in program history for the Wasps.

Junior designated player Roxanne Hillman (Clintwood, Va.) was named second-team all-conference while freshman catcher Jordan Chrisley (Dublin, Va.), sophomore first baseman Taylor Doss (Damascus, Va.) and freshman third baseman Ragan Halsey (Hillsville, Va.) were each selected to the All-ODAC Third Team.

Hillman finished third on the team in batting average (.380) taking over the designated player slot midway through the season. She was 19-for-50 on the year, with three extra-base hits including a home run in the ODAC Tournament and 11 RBI. The junior transfer from Motlow College had a six-hit day against Sweet Briar, going three-for-three in both games with a total of four RBI and two runs scored.

Chrisley stepped into the lead-off spot early in the season and took on the role of leading the defense from behind the plate. She had a team-high .396 batting average with 44 hits and 25 runs including nine doubles, two triples and a home run. She finished with 20 RBI, nine sacrifice bunts, eight stolen bases a program best on-base percentage of .443 and a second-best .541 slugging percentage.

Doss started every game at first base for Emory & Henry this year, greatly improving at one of the deepest positions in the league. She batted .389 on 113 at bats with a team-high 17 extra-base hits including five home runs. Doss drove in a squad-best 31 as well while scoring 23 runs and adding a .655 slugging percentage, which was best on the team.

Halsey quickly earned her spot at third base, making great plays on the hot corner for a .966 fielding percentage in her rookie year. She was an important bat in the middle of the E&H lineup as well, finishing with a .303 average, 30 hits, eight doubles and 16 RBI. Halsey also drew seven walks and had a pair of triples on the year.

Emory & Henry finished the season with a 23-15 record and a 9-11 mark in ODAC play. It was the only the sixth time in school history that the Wasps have posted a 20-win season and the first since 2007. E&H reached the ODAC Tournament for the second time in three years as well.
