INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team moves up three places to number five in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region rankings, NCAA officials announced Thursday. E&H is one of four Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top nine regionally.
Emory & Henry (34-13, 13-7 ODAC) finished as the Runner-Up in the 2017 ODAC Tournament last weekend, picking up four wins against regionally-ranked competition. It was E&H's first appearance in the ODAC Tournament championship since 2003, when the Wasps took the league title.
Virginia Wesleyan College remains the top team in the region this week with a 43-2 overall record. The Marlins are also the No. 1 ranked team in the country by the NFCA. Berry College is second while Moravian College rounds out the top three for a second week in a row.
Joining E&H and VWC from the ODAC in the rankings are Randolph-Macon College (sixth) and Lynchburg College (eighth).
Emory & Henry will now await the release of the 62-team field for the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament which will come on Monday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m. The pairings will be announced live on NCAA.com.
