ATLANTA, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team (6-6) got its Spring Break trip underway with at 10-0 five-inning drubbing of the University of Rochester (N.Y.) (1-4) Monday afternoon on the campus of Emory University.

How It Happened
Emory & Henry broke open a scoreless game in the top of the third with two runs. Sophomore first baseman Kendall Varner (Bassett, Va.) led off the inning with a home run while senior designated player Madison McClanahan (Abingdon, Va.) singled with two outs to drive in the other run.
The Wasps' offense exploded in the fourth for eight runs. Junior second baseman Lyndsay Boyd (Abingdon, Va.) and senior Holly Britt (Floyd, Va.) each had two-run singles to highlight the frame. Up by 10 at the end of the fifth, the game was called for the Eight-Run Advantage Rule.
Sophomore Alex Braun (Cornelius, N.C.) earned the shutout victory, striking out nine while allowing just two batters to reach base. Addy Szczerba suffered the loss for the Yellowjackets, with five runs on seven hits and six walks.
