INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team is the No. 7-ranked team in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region, NCAA officials announced Thursday. E&H is one of four Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top nine regionally.

Emory & Henry (24-14, 14-6 ODAC) finished the 2019 season in second place in the league, its best finish in program history. The Wasps are ranked in the region for the seventh time in the last eight periods dating back to April 27, 2017.

Virginia Wesleyan University remains the top team in the region this week with a 34-3 overall record and an 18-2 mark against league opponents. The Marlins are also the No. 1 ranked team in the country by the NFCA. Christopher Newport University is second while Birmingham-Southern College and Emory University round out the top four.

Conference rival University of Lynchburg sits at fifth in the rankings with Randolph-Macon College sitting just behind E&H in eighth to round out the ODAC schools.

Emory & Henry will get the postseason underway on Friday night at 8:00 p.m., when it takes on seventh-seeded Ferrum College in the ODAC Tournament. The tournament will once again be played at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia.
