Emory & Henry Softball Ranked Eighth In NCAA Division III Atlantic Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team is ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region, NCAA officials announced Thursday. E&H remains one of four Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top nine regionally.

Emory & Henry (26-16, 14-6 ODAC) finished fourth at the 2019 ODAC Tournament last weekend. The Wasps are ranked in the region for the eighth time in the last night periods dating back to April 27, 2017.

Virginia Wesleyan University remains the top team in the region this week with a 39-4 overall record. The Marlins are also the No. 1 ranked team in the country by the NFCA. Emory University moves back to No. 2 after dropping two spots last week while Christopher Newport University is third.

Conference rival University of Lynchburg sits at fourth in the rankings with Randolph-Macon College is just behind E&H in ninth to round out the ODAC schools.

Birmingham-Southern College is fifth while USA South schools, Piedmont College and Maryville (Tenn.) College are sixth and seventh, respectively.

Emory & Henry will now await the announcement of the 62-team field for the NCAA Division III Tournament on Monday afternoon.
