"I am extremely proud of our team for striving for excellence in all that they do," said Head Coach Tommy Forrester"These women are superb student-athletes who excel in so many aspects. I'm glad to see their hard work in the classroom recognized by the NFCA."

Tabbed as All-America Scholar-Athletes from E&H were seniors Erin Anderson (Aylett, Va.), Holly Britt (Floyd, Va.), Madison McClanahan (Abingdon, Va.), Rachel Smoot (Riner Va.) and Amanda Whitlow (Riner, Va.); junior Lyndsay Boyd (Abingdon, Va.); sophomore Kendall Varner (Bassett, Va); and freshman Anna Thomas (Climax, N.C.).

Qualifications for the award require the player to be a varsity letterwinner and to achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better during the 2017-18 academic year.

This past spring, the Wasps celebrated their 25th season of intercollegiate softball by posting a 25-18 overall record and a 14-6 mark in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The squad reached the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in three years, competing in the Demorest, Georgia Regional.
