Emory & Henry Softball Sets 2020 Schedule

EMORY, Va. – Coming off its second appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament in three years, the Emory & Henry College Softball Team has released its schedule for the 2020 season.

Additionally, the Wasps will take on Virginia Tech, Radford University and Southwest (Va.) Community College on Saturday on the VT campus during their annual fall "play date."

The biggest highlight to the 2020 schedule is an invitation to the NFCA Leadoff Classic in March. Sponsored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the event gathers top teams from across the country for early-season high-level play. This year's NFCA Leadoff Classic will be in Tucson, Arizona on the weekend of March 6-8.

Led by Head Coach Tommy Forrester, now in his seventh year, E&H will open the spring with a home exhibition against Bluefield College on Saturday, February 8 at 1:00 p,m.

After a trip to Birmingham, Alabama for four games in Birmingham-Southern College Invitational over the weekend of February 14-16, the Wasps have three straight home series with Salem (N.C.) College (Sat., Feb. 22), Christopher Newport University (Sun., Feb. 23) and Meredith College (Sat., Feb. 29).

Emory & Henry will play six games across three days at the NFCA Leadoff Classic and return for its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference clash with rival Roanoke College on Wednesday, March 11. A trip to Berry College (Sat., Feb. 14) will also prove to be an important regional test for the Wasps.

The heart of the conference schedule awaits E&H beginning with a visit from Shenandoah University on Saturday, March 21. The Wasps take to the road for doubleheaders at University of Lynchburg (Sun., Mar. 22) and Ferrum College (Tue., Mar. 24).

Eastern Mennonite University makes the trip down Interstate 81 on Saturday, March 28 for E&H's annual Light It Up Blue Day in support of the Autism Speaks Foundation and the Wasps host the Quakers of Guilford College on Wednesday, April 1.

Emory & Henry will travel to Virginia Wesleyan University (Sat., Apr. 4) and Randolph-Macon College (Sun., Apr. 5) for its last two road contests of the regular season. The games at VWU will be the Marlins' "Strike Out Cancer Day."

The Wasps host Randolph College on Friday, April 10 and Maryville (Tenn.) College on Tuesday, April 14, leading up to Senior Day on Saturday, April 18 against Bridgewater College.

The 2019 ODAC Tournament is set for Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26. The eight-team, double-elimination event will be played at the Moyer Sports Complex.
